A Message from the Foundation President

I am honored to be a part of the newly formed Jefferson City Police Foundation.  When I was approached by local citizens to be on the Board, I was eager to get involved and surprised one had not been established already. I’ve worked closely with law enforcement for the last 22 years as a Prosecutor, currently as an assistant for Cole County. I am fully aware of the growing challenges facing law enforcement the last few years. It is an important time to show support and invest in our local police force while working to better our community.

We have all been impacted by the devastation of COVID, lock downs, and uncertainty navigating a new world. Over the last two years, we have seen an increase in crime, calls for reform, and many budgetary and fiscal issues. Through it all, we continue to rely on our police force to keep our community safe, all while facing staffing shortages, diminished morale, and increased calls/demands.

Our Board members have embraced the mission of not only supporting our local Police Department but ultimately enhancing civic and community outreach with the Police Department. Establishing this fund enables citizens, businesses, and community organizations to assist in supporting the safety of Jefferson City. The Board is comprised of local citizens that will evaluate the needs of the Police Department, separate from the department and city government. Much thought and care will be given to the use of funds and the benefits it will bring not only to our police but in turn our community.

While we have an excellent police force and a relatively safe community when compared to national standards, we can all strive to make things better. Helping to increase morale, fill equipment and technology needs, and improve community outreach and safety all will ultimately better not only our Police Department but our citizens and city as a whole.

Thank you for visiting our website and supporting your Jefferson City Police Department!
